Choosing the right base or stand is critical to ensure that your patio umbrella is stable and upright under a gentle breeze weather condition. Center pole umbrellas can use either mobile or fixed bases, but most people like a mobile base because it can be easily moved from one spot to another. Most mobile bases are round, there are also hollow plastic ones that require you to add sand or water to create the weightiness. When selecting an appropriate umbrella stand, you will need to know the exact diameter of your umbrella's center pole.

Multi-color Round Beach Umbrella: What is the purpose of the aluminum rod attached to the pole?

There is a aluminum rod attached to the extension pole. You can put it through the top of the extension pole and use it as a handle to help twist the extension pole into the sand ground, it will save time and energy.

Multi-color Round Beach Umbrella: Is the height adjustable?

Unfortunately there is no mechanism on the pole for you to adjust the height of the pole, the height of the pole is fixed. But if you like, you can try to bury the pole deeper. The beach umbrella comes with a tilt button and you can press the button to change the angle of the canopy. This is very convenient and it ensures maximum protection from the sun.

3 Tips to properly secure a Beach Umbrella in the sand

Learning how to set up a beach umbrella properly is important, as if you do not secure it properly, it is easy to fly off and hurt somebody/something. We have some tips to help you set up your beach umbrella as secure as possible.
Bury the pole deeper
The deeper you get the pole, the more secure your umbrella. A good rule of thumb is about 1/3 the height of the pole.
Use an Umbrella Anchor
All our beach umbrellas come with an anchor already. You can simply turn this into the sand and let the threaded stem provide some extra grip and security. You can also pour some water on the sand to firm it up.
Use some sandbags
Sandbags can provide extra security. Fill the sandbags with sand and secure the bags to the pole to help stabilize the pole.

Beach Umbrella: Will airlines let you check it in as luggage?

Generally umbrellas are allowed in carry-on bags or checked baggags. But each airline has its own rules, so we recommend you call the customer service contact number of your airline and airport for any size or weight restrictions. Can the beach umbrella be anchored into a heavy duty stand?

Our Multi-color Round Beach Umbrellas are designed to be used by the sea and in the sand, however they also work really well with a regular stand/base in a stable setting. The pole of the beach umbrella is 1 1/4" in diameter, so when picking a stand for the beach umbrella, please make sure the hole of the stand is bigger than 1 1/4". By the way, please note the auger tip is not removable.

Can I iron the canopy of beach umbrella?

It is not recommended that you iron the canopy of the beach umbrella. The beach umbrella is made of polyester with elargol coating, which block more than 90% of UV rays to protect you from sunlight. If you iron the canopy, you may ruin the coating and reduce the sun protection effect.

Patio Umbrella vs Beach Umbrella, What is the Difference?

Beach umbrellas and patio umbrellas almost look alike, but there are several differences that are fundamental.
1. The frame: A Patio Umbrella has a bigger/thick frame than a Beach Umbrella.
Normally the patio umbrellas made of heavy and strong material like powder-coated steel and aluminum, for a weather-resistant and long-lasting purpose. However, the beach umbrellas are made of aluminum, plastic, and fiberglass so they remain lightweight for easy portability.
2. The base: A patio umbrella needs a base, whereas a beach umbrella does not.
Normally the pole of a patio umbrella has a has a flat bottom and it requires a heavy base/stand, however, a beach umbrella does not need a stand, it has a threaded sand anchor at the end which can help screw the pole in the sand.
3. The weight: A Patio Umbrella is heavier than a Beach Umbrella.
As we have seen above both umbrellas have different frames, hence the weight will be different. The net weight of a 8ft wooden patio umbrella, for example, like our product id: YES2040, can weight more than 9 Lbs, however, a 8ft beach umbrella like YES4025 is 4.85 Lbs only.
4. The place of use:
Normally patio umbrellas are made to stay in one spot for a very long time, you will not move it frequently, but a beach umbrellas are made to be portable so you can bring it from your home to the beach, then take it back to home again.
5. The size options:
As the beach umbrella need to be lightweight so you can carry it around easily, so the common size of beach umbrella is 6ft, 7ft or 8ft; A common size of patio umbrella is 9ft, 10ft, or it can reach up to 15ft.

Do you have a Beach Umbrella with a metal tilt mechanism?

Unfortunately we do not have a beach umbrella with a metal tilt mechanism, the tilt mechanism of our beach umbrellas is made of plastic. Plastic is a lightweight and durable material, so with a plastic titl button, the beach umbrella remains lightweight for easy portability, and the pastic material is resistant to water, rust, sand, and sun exposure, you can tilt the umbrella with a wet hand.
